Frequently Asked Questions,
Answered

We know you might have a few questions. Read on for answers.

  • I want to be a part of the WolkAbout team. How do I apply?

We want to be thorough and fair to every candidate. All applications will be collected in the same place (our website or paid ads), so we can dedicate the same amount of time and resources to everyone. Also, we take data protection seriously - applying through our website ensures that all applications are treated in compliance with GDPR rules.
  • What are the steps of the recruiting process?

In most cases, our recruitment process follows the steps below:
    1. Application: Submit a CV through a contact form on our website or via ads on different platforms to start your career journey. A member of our hiring team will let you know about the next steps you need to take in the recruiting process.
    2. Screening: A member of our hiring team will conduct an initial screening to learn more about your education, skills and experience, and see whether your qualifications match the requirements of the specific position you have applied for.
    3. Initial interview: If your CV meets our requirements, we’ll invite you to our office (or organise a video call, it’s up to you). You’ll meet with one of our colleagues from the hiring team, who will introduce you to WolkAbout and all the good stuff you’ll be part of if you decide to join us. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with the team lead as well. The goal of this interview is to learn more about your qualifications and share more details regarding the opportunity.
    4. Assessment: We’d like to see how you think and solve various types of problems you’ll have to work on once you join WolkAbout, so we’ll ask you to do the technical assessment test or an assignment. These assessments provide you with an opportunity to showcase your knowledge and skills. No matter the outcome, we’ll let you know what we think because we believe it’s a fair thing to do.
    5. Technical Interview: As the next step, our team members will discuss the technical knowledge required for the role with you. Also, you’ll get to ask anything starting from what our expectations are to what specific tasks we work on for our clients.
    6. Hiring decision: That’s it! After we make the hiring decision and send you the offer, you can join our crew and start a great adventure.
In some cases, we use a different structure. For example, for more senior positions, it’s important to us that you meet with more people, and the assessment phase will be different. You’ll, of course, always be informed about all the steps of the recruitment process.
  • What language should I use when applying for a job position?

We’re an international company, and as most of our job adverts are in English, applying in that language is always a safe bet. However, if you’re more comfortable using your own language (provided that it’s the language of the office you’re applying to), that’s perfectly fine, too.
  • Do I have to write a cover letter?

Make sure your CV includes the skills listed in the job description. That’s it. Writing a cover letter is really not necessary (but we do love reading it).
  • How can I stand out in my application and the interview process?

Firstly, do your research and let us know why you’re interested in joining WolkAbout! Providing cover letters, portfolios and personal websites in addition to your CV is a big plus as this gives us a better sense of who you are, your experience and what you’re passionate about. Please pay close attention to our different job descriptions, and apply only to the ones you’re interested in, and that align with your background!
  • What will happen after I apply?

First, you’ll receive a thank-you email to let you know we’ve received your application. If you apply for a specific opening, we’ll review your application carefully, and then we’ll reach out to inform you whether your application was successful or not. If you submit a general resume application, we probably won’t contact you unless a position that matches your experience opens up.
  • What is the application deadline?

For most jobs, there’s no specific deadline. We screen applications as they come in, and close the job ad only once we’ve found the right candidate - so make sure to apply sooner rather than later! If there’s a specific deadline, this will be specified in the job ad, but again, don’t wait until the last moment to apply!
  • Can I reapply if I’ve been rejected?

Certainly! But if your application wasn’t taken further because we felt that you didn’t have enough experience, give it a few months, develop your skills, and come back.
  • Can I apply for multiple jobs?

Of course, especially if you’re not sure which one will fit your talents the most. But be strategic - don’t just apply across the board. Instead, really make sure that your applications match our job ad’s requirements in each instance.
  • How should I dress for my interviews?

We love to express our individual styles, and we don’t have a strict dress code. We don’t think you should feel pressured to dress out of character — up or down — for an interview. Just come as you are and wear whatever makes you comfortable, whether that’s a formal suit or jeans and a T-shirt.
  • I didn't get a follow-up email, and it's been more than a week! What happened?

If you applied for an open position, the chances are high that we’ve reached out. Even if you got the confirmation email when you submitted your application, check your spam folder to be sure your email provider didn’t filter out our follow-up. And if you still can’t find our email - contact us! Sometimes there’s an issue that could cause a delay.
  • The position or team I want isn't open. Can I still submit my CV?

Sure! If you’re interested in a position or department that isn’t currently open, submit a general application with a note describing the role you’re seeking. We’ll keep it in our database and reach out when something opens up.
  • What are your working hours?

We usually work between 8 am and 6 pm CET, Monday to Friday – that’s the time range when we schedule all our calls and when most of our team members and clients are available online.
  • Will I have the opportunity to work from home?

Yes. Just make sure that you have access to a reliable and fast internet connection and you’re all set to work.
  • Do I have to have knowledge of English?

We work with clients from all over the world. We also have some non-Serbian speakers on board, so most of our business communication takes place in English. That’s why we want our candidates to have a good command of this language.
